1. Polytetrafluoroethylene membrane is made of PTFE which is completely natural hydrophobic. Even under very low pressure difference, it can ensure the unimpeded passage of humid air or other gases, while the aqueous solution cannot pass through. Its performance is just opposite to that of hydrophilic membrane. PTFE filter membrane has strong chemical compatibility and is competent for the filtration of almost all organic solvents and strongly corrosive chemicals. When the aqueous solution must be filtered by PTFE filter membrane, the aqueous solution can be filtered only after pre infiltration with ethanol or isopropanol.
2. Glass fiber pre filtration membrane (GF): used to improve the filtration pass rate and continuous filtration; Glass fiber filter membrane belongs to deep filtration, which is mainly used as a pre filtration layer and directly added to the filter membrane.
3. Nylon filter membrane (polyamide, nylon): used for filtering alkaline solutions and organic solvents;
Nylon membrane has very good mechanical strength and strong adsorption. It can withstand most organic solvents and most alkaline solutions. It is especially suitable for the filtration of alkaline solutions. For organic solvent filtration, such as HPLC mobile phase particle filtration, nylon membrane is more economical and practical than PTFE membrane. In addition, nylon membrane can also be used as transfer membrane. Due to the relatively high adsorption performance of nylon membrane, it is generally not recommended to be used for the filtration of culture medium or biological samples such as protein solution, so as to avoid the loss of samples due to adsorption. In this case, cellulose acetate membrane (CA) with low adsorption is usually used, which is more suitable.
